Essay Writing Tips For Competitive Exams

In a competitive exam, the candidates are ranked according to their grades. For example, if an examination is open for 50 positions and there are 100 candidates who are taking part in the exam, then the top 50 candidates will be selected and the remaining 50 candidates will be rejected. These types of competitions are usually held for the university or college admissions. If you are going to take part in the essay writing competition, then you should keep in mind the following tips;

1) There is no need to be smart while writing the competitive essay. You should try to be clear and select your best idea.

2) If you are going to prove the thesis statement, then you should try to prove it with the help of valid examples rather than unnecessary explanations.

3) Keep in mind the word limit of the competitive essay. For example, if you are asked to write an essay of 400 words, then you should try to write an essay 400-450 words. There is no need to write an essay of 350 words or 500 words.

4) Before going to start a competitive essay, you should make an outline of the essay in your mind. After making a complete plan, you should try to write an essay. Never try to write a competitive essay without making a plan and an outline.

5) Keep in mind the backbones of writing the competitive essay. The backbones of the competitive essay are the introduction, the topic sentence of each paragraph and the conclusion. You should try to write the backbones of the essay with extra care.

6) As we know that practice makes a man perfect and it is also necessary for us to practice the competitive essay before going to take part in the competitive exams. Here, I suggest you don’t practice the whole essay. You should try to practice the each section of the essay separately. Its reason is that three different sections of the essay require different writing skills.

7) While writing the competitive essay, you should try to focus on the question of the essay. There is no need to write anything irrelevant to the topic of the essay.

8) To write an argument in the essay, you should keep in mind that there involve three steps in writing the argument. The first step is related to the statement of the argument. The second step is related to the explanation of the argument. In the last step, you should try to prove the argument true or false with the help of valid examples.

9) There is no need to write negative words in your essay. For example, if you are asked to write an essay on politics, then you can take your own views on the development of the political system. On the other hand, if you try to hit a specific politician, then it will come into negative meanings.

10) At last, you should also check the spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes. It is also necessary for you to check the professional structure and format of the essay.
